TALLAHASSEE — The state Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle intends to make its Web site available tonight for those trying to renew their driver’s license and vehicle registration tags before new rates go into place at midnight.
The rush of people trying to renew their driver’s license or vehicle tags before the new rates go into effect tomorrow has forcd the state to temporarily close its online renewal site. The rush to renew is understandable. As of September 1st, fees for driver’s licenses, vehicle registrations and titles will increased by 35 to 60 percent.
With the cost of nearly every driving fee scheduled to rise Tuesday, drivers from across the state flooded motor-vehicle offices to renew their licenses and motor-vehicle tags to avoid having to pay more to the government.
